Choon of the Month: Sunday Drive

Original video located here. Accessed 28th May 2012

Song title: Sunday Drive

Artist: Ladyhawke

Year: 2012

Why I like this song:

This has been a long time coming and it doesn't disappoint.
Maybe it's the autistic in me but it's the processed piano that stands out for me as well as the lyrical themes. Guess it takes one to know one...

Back to the Eighties: Toccata

Original video located here. Accessed 14th May 2012

Song title: Toccata

Artist: Sky

Year: 1980

Why I like this song:

Recently I got a hold of Sky's album Sky 2.
This was twofold: First, I was under the impression that this was their best and second, this was an album my father had and one I had vague memories of listening to. Coincidence?

Probably not but I have to admit this is quite the compelling listen. Yes it may be last gasp of the progressive rock that defined the 1970s but as a bunch of musicians each showing what they can do it certainly works a treat.

Got it Covered: Don't Call Me Baby

Original video located here. Accessed 9th May 2012

Song title: Don't Call Me Baby

Artist: Frankenbok

Originally Done By: Madison Avenue

Year: 2001

Why I like this song:

The original was fun but this is downright hilarious. Indeed, the power of pro-feminine assertations being uttered in a ludicrously macho voice can't be underestimated.

Obituary: Off the Grid

Original video located here. Accessed 7th May 2012

Song title: Off the Grid

Artist: Beastie Boys

Year: 2007

Why I like this song:

R.I.P. Adam Yauch

This may surprise a few people but this is one of my favourite Beastie Boys tracks. Its not just its nature as an instrumental but it has a laid back feel this band isn't exactly known for.

This Song Rocks: Missing Pieces

Original video located here. Accessed 10th March 2014

Song title: Missing Pieces

Artist: Jack White

Year: 2012

Why I like this song:

With the White Stripes no more, what is our boy Jack going to do?
Something similar but clearly with a bigger budget.
And what do you know: It works great. Great piano solo too

The Asian Connection: Mission

Original video located here. Accessed 27th June 2018

Song title: Mission (Fuga)

Artist: Angels

Year: 2004

Why I like this song:

Didn't think much of the anime this song opened for but damn, what an opening. Energetic indeed and one of those rare cases where a non-anime fan could enjoy it without realising the source. Such was the case as I originally thought this was done by string quartet bond but sadly it was not.
