At time of typing, it's raining outside. So here's a classic to fit the mood. The Whitlams would have to be the most oddest success story in Australian music history. Who would've guessed that a song borne of tragedy would be a major breakthrough hit? And would've guessed that the guys who write the snappy I Make Hamburgers could produce something of such emotional resonance?

I recently got a hold of the Dappled Cities album Lake Air. I already knew of this band and I was intrigued but it is only now that I got off my slack arse and got one of their albums. Of course I knew what to expect: snappy riffs, good humour and some great songs. And this certainly delivers. And the rest of the album is superb too. Thing is, Lake Air is their fourth album so maybe there are some frontiers that are awaiting....
