Song title: Wishingbone
Artist: Winterpeople
Year: 2012
Why I like this song:
Seeing we're enjoying a revival of folk artists - most likely we can attribute the success of Mumford and Sons for this. So naturally, success will breed some soundalikes.
But I do love this song for the instrumental parts and the harmonies. Great stuff.

Song title: If I Can't Change Your Mind
Artist: Sugar
Year: 1992
Why I like this song:
This is a song from 1992 that i only discovered recently. But what a song! It's a winning hook and grabs attention right until the end of the song. If only I'd known about at the time of it's release. Lasting reverence have gone to far less deserving songs

Song title: Next Girl
Artist: Black Keys
Year: 2010
Why I like this song:
I've been hearing some good things about the Black Keys - so much so, I decided it warranted so further exploration.
I've been putting off the Black Keys largely to the comparisons to the White Stripes: There's two of them, they play some modern take on blues rock and they have a colour-coded name. So what do the Black Keys bring to the table?
It certainly sounds more muscular. Like the White Stripes nastier cousin - certainly worth looking into further.
As for this this song? Yeah I relate. Unfortunately.

Song title: Circle Square
Artist: Wonderstuff
Year: 1990
Why I like this song:
I have recently been listening to Wonder Stuff.
I knew the name from when I was a kid: The cover of Dizzy they did, with Vic Reeves, was doing some traction at the time but, as is often the case with a cover, eventually you need to have something of your own to say.
And with the Wonderstuff I have found that their music is a combination of goofiness and some snappy pop songs. And that certainly applies here: The violin suggest a jauntiness but the rest of the song seems more introspective. Especially that hook:
"I've been a long time disappointment to myself"
Somehow that line hits hard....
Song title: Kinjirareta Asobi
Artist: Ali Project
Year: 2004
Why I like this song:
I love the Rozen Maiden anime and this is a suitably demented opening for it.
It's compelling in it's freakish nature and that's what makes it a fun listen.
