Song title: Sunday Drive
Artist: Ladyhawke
Year: 2012
Why I like this song:
This has been a long time coming and it doesn't disappoint. Maybe it's the autistic in me but it's the processed piano that stands out for me as well as the lyrical themes. Guess it takes one to know one...

Song title: Toccata
Artist: Sky
Year: 1980
Why I like this song:
Recently I got a hold of Sky's album Sky 2. This was twofold: First, I was under the impression that this was their best and second, this was an album my father had and one I had vague memories of listening to. Coincidence?
Probably not but I have to admit this is quite the compelling listen. Yes it may be last gasp of the progressive rock that defined the 1970s but as a bunch of musicians each showing what they can do it certainly works a treat.
The original was fun but this is downright hilarious. Indeed, the power of pro-feminine assertations being uttered in a ludicrously macho voice can't be underestimated.
This may surprise a few people but this is one of my favourite Beastie Boys tracks. Its not just its nature as an instrumental but it has a laid back feel this band isn't exactly known for.

Song title: Missing Pieces
Artist: Jack White
Year: 2012
Why I like this song:
With the White Stripes no more, what is our boy Jack going to do? Something similar but clearly with a bigger budget. And what do you know: It works great. Great piano solo too

Song title: Mission (Fuga)
Artist: Angels
Year: 2004
Why I like this song:
Didn't think much of the anime this song opened for but damn, what an opening. Energetic indeed and one of those rare cases where a non-anime fan could enjoy it without realising the source. Such was the case as I originally thought this was done by string quartet bond but sadly it was not.

Song title: Goodbye Blue Sky
Artist: Pink Floyd
Year: 1979
Why I like this song:
Recently I've been listening to Pink Floyd's The Wall.
This may surprise some people but this is the first time I've heard it all the way through. I guess you can't be a fan of the Pink Floyd and not listen to it. I guess I was put off by the intimidation of it: It is one of the biggest selling albums of all time and it's the double album that many have tried to duplicate since. And yet, in recent years, there appears to be something of a backlash citing it being too long, too depressing, sexist and the point where the band ceased functioning as a proper unit. What is there to do but approach The Wall on my own terms (the best way of course).
Well its....something that's for sure. It certainly is a world apart from The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here. There are some great displays of creativity here although the subject seems hard to get into. In the end, this album is effectively a Rorschach test: people will have different reactions to it, but it is hardly a boring listen.
