Song title: Fall
Artist: Single Gun Theory
Year: 1994
Why I like this song:
It's a given that the Internet has made it easy to identify any song you heard once but couldn't place. But before then, finding out what that one song you once heard was called presented a sizable challenge. Case in point: I heard this song in the mid-nineties and fell in love with it but I could never identify what it was called. That was until 1999 when I purchased the Triple J Hottest 100 vol. 2 compilation and I heard that unmistakable vocal sample ("Eeyore Eeyore!") that the I thought: 'That's the one'.
So what makes this song so special? I like the synths, i like the hypnotic nature of the song, i like the vocals and I like the clever use of samples. Most important of all though, is this seems completely unique. I will certainly admit my teens were a time of frustration and confusion so to hear this song was to arrive at an oasis of calm. And therefore proves the notion that sometimes the seductive approach can win anyone over.
