The Asian Connection: Swordland

Original video located here. Accessed 10th July 2021

Song title: Swordland

Artist: Yuki Kajiura

Year: 2013

Why I like this song:

Recently I've been watching the anime Sword Art Online.

I am well aware that a lot of people don't like this anime and I can understand their viewpoint. But I have enjoyed this anime a lot - and I will admit that Kirito and Asuna are a couple worth shipping.

What is of note is that this by Yuki Kajiura - the same composer who gave us .hack//SIGN - thus suggesting she does great for anime where people are trapped in a MMORPGur. And whilst she may be applying the same tricks here, they are ramped up to something more energetic and foreboding.
Its just the thing for doing a World of Warcraft dungeon. Or any RPG dungeon for that matter.

The Asian Connection: Open Your Heart

Original video located here. Accessed 10th July 2020

Song title: Open Your Heart

Artist: Emily Bindiger / Bee Train

Year: 2002

Why I like this song:

This is further proof that the soundtrack to .hack//SIGN is in a class of it's own. If I could put the entire soundtrack on this blog I would. Probably.

But yeah, this is pure magic and just the thing to make other TV series jealous.

The Asian Connection: The Key of the Twilight

Original video located here. Accessed 10th April 2020

Song title: The Key of the Twilight

Artist: Emily Bindiger / Bee Train

Year: 2002

Why I like this song:

.hack//SIGN seems destined to remain a divisive series. It's critics slam it for being slow moving, dialogue heavy and frequently spending an awful lot of time building up something that turns out to be pointless.
But you wouldn't say a bad word regarding it's soundtrack. It's a compelling blend of folk, electronic and layers of female vocals. All through the guiding hand of one Yuki Kajiura.
Its just the thing for any high fantasy adventure and wouldn't have been out of place in any MMORPGur.

Personally, I don't know what kind of creative juices Kajiura is running but I want some of it.
